Expect the Unexpected.

-Saturday, 19th August 2006-
Something happened after a wonderful night we had at the F&B Karaoke night.
On that same day in the morning, accident happened in Hau'u'a.
"Two teenagers died and three others were hurt when their speeding car ran off Kamehameha Highway and hit a utility pole at 4:20 a.m., police said."
Later..
"Nineteen hours later, at about 11 p.m., a group of people apparently paying their respects at a roadside memorial to the crash victims were themselves hit by a car, police said. One person was killed in that accident, one was in extremely critical condition and two others were in critical condition."
One of them, is Summer-Lynn Mau. My co-worker. I was shocked when Megan called me up and told me about that incident. I was speechless, did not believe it until I read the news on Honolulu Advertiser myself.
I quote,

"Speed was a factor, said Honolulu Police Department Capt. Frank Fujii"

If those "DRIVERS" were to drive with their conscious mind and concern about other people's safety and "OBEY" the rules. None of this could have happened.
One of them being interviewed and said the below, and I quote,
"This is too tragic," Kepaa said. "They were just stopping to show some respect. How does this happen?"
Their good hearts were paid with a tragic accident. I don't know whatelse I can say. Speechless. I am sure no one expect this to happen. But someone has to be responsible for the death of Innocent lives.
News:
May Summer rest in peace...and return to the arms of our Heavenly Father.

What is Organization Behavior?

I just got back from my job training. Out of no where I was thinking about what Organization Behaviour is about? So, I went online and search "what is organization behaviour in psychological term?" and this is what I've found...

This is some questions being answered by 3 Experts as follows,
  • Dr. John Austin - Associate Professor of Psychology at Western Michigan University and member of I/O program.
  • Dr. Dale Brethower - Professor Emeritus of Psychology at Western Michigan University.
  • Dr. Alyce Dickinson - Professor of Psychology at Western Michigan University and chair of the I/O psychology program.

What is Organization Behaviour Management?

What Exactly does and OBM psychologist do?

Dr. Dickinson: An OBM psychologist can become involved in improving/maintaining any aspect of individual or organizational performance. In general, the areas include training, performance, management, (which may include improving performance quantity, quality, customer satisfaction, and/or safety), and systems analysis (increasing the efficiency of the way in which work gets done in the organization, altering what individuals do in their jobs, developing measurement systems for various units in the organization, and assisting organizations at the top level to determine measurable goals for its overall performance).

What are the basic areas in OBM?

Dr. Austin: The focus is on the problems, not like I/O where there are different areas. Some of the problems that OBM focuses on are safety, productivity, quality, and timeliness.

Dr. Dickinson: The areas include training, performance, management, (which may include improving performance quantity, quality, customer satisfaction, and/or safety), and systems analysis (increasing the efficiency of the way in which work gets done in the organization, altering what individuals do in their jobs, developing measurement systems for various units in the organization, and assisting organizations at the top level to determine measurable goals for its overall performance).

What is the difference between I/O (Industrial/Organizational Psychology) and OBM?

Dr. Brethower: I/O is an established field within psychology, traditional in approach, does lots of correlational type work, "owns" selection & placement and performance appraisal-which they've started calling "performance management" but don't be fooled. I have a colleague who earned his Ph.D. in I/O and went about establishing a consulting practice; he had to learn OBM to add value. OBM is known as that in ABA (Association for Behavior Analysis) circles and is known as HPT (Human Performance Technology) in ISPI (International Society for Performance Improvement) circles. It is a field created in the past 40 years by folks who were, primarily, behavior analysts.

Dr. Dickinson: If you would like more information about the difference between OBM and I/O, I suggest you read an article that was written by a number of us here at Western (one of my former Ph.D. students is the first author) : Bucklin, B.R., Alvero, A. M., Dickinson, A. M., Austin, J., Jackson, A. K. (2000). Industrial-organizational Psychology and Organizational Behavior Management: An Objective Comparison. Journal of Organizational Behavior Management, 20 (2), 27-75.

Is there a difference between OBM in the business department and OBM in the psychology department?

Dr. Dickinson: Yes. If you are asking about our business department, there is not really any OBM, per se. Organizational Behavior Management refers, specifically, to the application of behavioral principles in business and industry - it is not a general term for performance management or organizational behavior. Our business college, while offering courses in performance management, organizational behavior and systems analysis, does not approach the topic from a behavioral perspective. It would be quite difficult for me to explain the differences; I recommend that students read chapters from a nonbehavioral performance management text, industrial/organizational psychology text, or organizational behavior text, similar to the Muchinksy text I use in PSY 645. If you turn to the chapter on motivation, there are five different motivational theories presented, and all are different than the motivational theories presented in the leadership chapter. Because the theories differ so much, the approach to behavior and organizational performance differs considerably from the approach we use in behavioral psychology.

Psychology Psycho Psyche Psy...thing?

Ok, I have changed my Major to Psychology and Minor in ICS Media Communication. So, what does Psychology actually means? Let me break it down for you right here:

The word Psychology comes from Greek, Psyche (soul / mind) and logy (study)
  • an academic and applied field involving the study of human mind, brain and behavior
  • application of such knowledge to various spheres of human activity (daily lives & mental illness)

Psychology differs from anthropology, economics, political science, and sociology in seeking to capture explanatory generalizations about the mental function and overt behaviour of individuals, while the other disciplines rely more heavily on field studies and historical methods for extracting descriptive generalizations. In practice, however, there is quite a lot of cross-fertilization that takes place among the various fields. Psychology differs from biology and neuroscience in that it is primarily concerned with the interaction of mental processes and behavior, and of the overall processes of a system, and not simply the biological or neural processes themselves, though the subfield of neuropsychology combines the study of the actual neural processes with the study of the mental effects they have subjectively produced

Applied psychology
Applied psychology encompasses both psychological research that is designed to help individuals overcome practical problems and the application of this research in applied settings. Much of applied psychology research is utilized in other fields, such as business management, product design, ergonomics, nutrition, and clinical medicine. Applied psychology includes the areas of clinical psychology, industrial and organizational psychology, human factors, forensic psychology, health psychology, school psychology
and others.

I basically are more interested in these two fields;

  1. I/O Psychology

Industrial and organizational psychology (also I/O psychology or work psychology or occupational psychology) is the study of the behavior of people in the workplace. Industrial and organizational psychology applies psychological knowledge and methods to aid workers and organizations. Historically, job analysis has been the traditional means for which essential characteristics associated with any particular position are identified. A thorough job analysis takes time, resources and money but its benefits tend to out weigh the costs, especially when the position is of great importance, such as an executive position in a major corporation.
Industrial and organizational psychologists may use
psychometric tests to measure the knowledge, skills, abilities, and personality characteristics of people for a variety of employment-related purposes, such as selection for appointment or promotion, or for training and development. They may devise questionnaires to measure employee attitudes such as morale, job satisfaction, or feelings towards management or customers.
Increasingly, people factors are recognized as a major determinant of organizational performance and a key competitive differential. Psychologists therefore may also advise senior managers on the management of organizational climate or culture, on dealing with organizational change, or on group dynamics within an organization. It is probably partly for this reason that management coaching is an increasingly popular part of the psychologist's work.
Industrial and organizational psychology is a diverse field incorporating aspects of disciplines such as
clinical psychology, social psychology, and psychometrics as well as less closely linked social studies such as law.
Many industrial and organizational psychologists specialize in one of the following aspects: psychometrics; time and motion studies; employment law; personnel selection; training; leadership selection, coaching and development; organizational design and change. Some I/O psychologists are academic (working in both business and psychology departments) or non-academic researchers, while many others are engaged in practice, holding positions such as the following:
- executive coach
- diversity consultant
- legislative compliance officer
- labor relations specialist
- human resources specialist
- process improvement consultant
- manager of selection and training

  1. School Psychology

School Psychology is a field that applies principles of clinical psychology and educational psychology to the diagnosis and treatment of students' behavioral and learning problems. School psychologists are educated in child and adolescent development, learning theories, psychoeducational assessment, personality theories, therapeutic interventions, identification of learning disability; and the ethical, legal and administrative codes of their profession.

Music...~[]^o^[]~

Uhm..I don't know..just thought I can try to post this here..

And Hey! It works...lol these are some of the songs I love to listen to EVERYDAY..

~m R o A dn~

I don't know why, I felt like writing something but I don't know what to write. Let's see...(thinking)...Ok, here:

Lately, I dreamt about Nick a lot. I had this dream me and him spending time together over here in Hawaii. And this morning I had another dream with him that he was suppose to be sending me off to the Airport as I leave for Malaysia for visit, but he ended up going home with me. It's weird..
We both are getting along really well, I would say so far so good We are planning to go DisneyLand in LA and then spend sometime together again in Vegas. Just pray and hope that things will go well this time without any drama. There's a few times we were on the webcam, he's on the phone. When I asked who was it, at least he is honest enough to tell me that it was Tiffinie. As long as she is NOT calling me on MY PHONE. I can live with that.

Talking about "Dreams" I love and hate.

I love because : That's the happiest moment of the night, dreaming of things that you are yet to do in real life or seeing someone that you have not seen for a LONG LONG time.

I hate because : YOU WAKE UP! grrr

Especially the dreams of my Family and Nick...I wished it could last forever. But I guess that's how dream works...SO...no further complain.

Update :-)

Me and Nick. We are going on FINE. He calls me almost everyday because most of the time we talk MSN =) which is still an effort. He called me yesterday when I was at work in Seasider (isn't that sweet?) He called me right after he get off work. Well..I thought that was sweet. I liked it. And so I got home around 3.45pm, I got online and he's there =)

He sent me a file called the Citrix O. It is a program where I can invite other computer to view my screen or to have full access to my computer. Which is pretty cool only to find out that it is another program similar to Remote Assistant on Windows. (Kind of dumb actually) LOL but it's okay. So now I have this GoToMyPC thingy on mine. And of course it's only a trial version. I ain't paying for that service when I can get the same service on Windows Remote Assistant!

I think I have gone...something different..LOL I don't know what, but I have been listening to some Country songs. They are not so bad you know, if you are sentimental enough to listen to their words...so lively..so real..so vivid.. There are a few songs that has become my favorite maybe I can share them...

Diamond Rio - I believe
Lonestar - Amazed
Shelly Fairchild - Tiny Town
Rascal Flatts - Bless the Broken Road

Listen to the words...I bet you will love it. Because every men that has a heart..will ponder into those words and feel them. I feel that these songs were written from the words deep down in their hearts, words that are so pure and true. I might be a bit overwhelmed with them and exagerate, but do try to listen to them...

~<-*-*->~Born again~<-*-*->~

I love this song..John Legend & Mariah Carey

The Words:-

Come bring me your softness
Comfort me through all this madness
Woman, don't you know, with you I'm born again

Come give me your sweetness
Now there's you, there is no weakness
Lying safe within your arms, I'm born again

I was half, not whole
In step with none
Reaching through this world
In need of one

Come show me your kindness
In your arms I know I'll find this
Woman, don't you know, with you I'm born again
Lying safe with you I'm born again

Come bring me your softness
Comfort me through all this madness
Woman, don't you know, with you I'm born again

Come give me your sweetness
Now there's you, there is no weakness
Lying safe within your arms, I'm born again
Woman, don't you know, with you I'm born again

I was half, not whole
In step with none
Reaching through this world
In need of one

Come show me your kindness
In your arms I know I'll find this
Woman, don't you know, with you I'm born again
Lying safe with you I'm born again

Maybe thing's aren't that bad?

Let's see, maybe thing's are not that bad at all? Actually, if the both of us put in the effort a little by little? The story maybe a different ending? Okay, here is the story:
Me and him gave ourselves another chance to push the accelerator constant. We made a deal to try to make the situation the way it was before where the both of us were happy together. Uhm..example, phone calls, talking, conversations, updates on our lives. And so we did. It was not that bad at all. I can tell he is trying.
We basically been talking since last Saturday (08/05/06) then a break on Sunday and THEN we have been talking everyday since Monday (08/07/06).
Check list.
Talking stupid. Checked
Laughs. Checked
Silly talking. Checked
Serious talking. Checked
Life updates. Checked
Noticed something different. Checked
Making fun of ourselves. Checked
Make fun of each other. Checked
I know this check list is kind of ridicule, but hey I am having fun knowing what me and him been up to myself. I found out something really funny, well at least I thought it was funny. He moved to another area and he told me he got a roommate. Just out of curiosity I asked him,
Me : Hun, is Jorge your roommate or housemate?
Him : What's the difference?
Me : Err, roommate is someone that sleeps in the same room with you, and a housemate is someone that lives in the same house but different room.
Him : Oh, then housemate he is.
Me : Uhm..yea, I cannot imagine you being in the same room with a guy.

And we just burst out laughing about it. See what I mean, just silly talk about roommate and housemate makes us laughs. Knowing the fact that he didn't know the difference of roommate and housemate makes me feel smarter than I thought I was.
Yesterday we were talking to an old friend named Chris on Yahoo Messenger. Chris is in Utah now living in a motel that cost $400 permonth, which is not too bad according to the both of them. I didn't know whatelse to say just kept quiet and agreed. (Er hello? I am a student 400 bucks is a LOT to me). And so Chris noticed a girl by the reception is a "cute native american girl". Curiousity kills the cat. Nick, being a Native american himself persuaded Chris to ask what tribe that girl is. Persuasion failed. I found out that Chris is a scary cat himself. LOL not to be mean but I witnessed.
Chris was waiting on her to pick up the phone because she will intro her name over the phone. Nick, being the aggressive one of course did not give up persuading Chris. I being the smart one, browse through the Native american name list online. I typed all the possible name but none of them were her name. Native American names, some are weird but some are really sweet. I like Angeni myself, that means "spirit angel". Sweet huh? I thought so too.
And so, after all the names try-outs. She finally picked up a call and said her name, Rayleen. Now here is the fun part.
Nick : What the....Rayleen? That's no Native American name..she must be a white chick that just got tanned!
LOL Funny to see how he express himself. We just burst out laughing. It was funny, after all the effort, she does not have a Native American name. Then Chris got kicked offline.
So left me and Nick having our own little conversation again. He was browsing through a link I gave to him and he found an English-Cherokee Dictionary! If you have not noticed, he is from the Cherokee tribe and Cherokee is his native language. He taught me some of his language, and dang...it does sounds Japanese to me and most of them does not make any sense. Don't believe me? Take a look at this...
(english) boyfriend = u-na-li-go-di (cherokee)
Try that! Sounds funny right? He is trying to preserve his language. It be so much fun to learn! If you want to learn more words hit the link below,
After all that talking and fun, I had to go dinner and he wants to watching Chris Angel the magician show. So, I let him go.
Later that night, after dinner and I was walking home, he called me on my phone to check on where I was and to say Good night. I thought that was sweet.
Uhm...after all this typing. I guess all I am trying to say is that, all things won't be as bad as we thought it will be, so long as both parties put in a little effort to make a difference. As for me and him, we are so far so good.
And, jeez, who could have imagined I am learning Cherokee right? =)

Pit of Dilemma

Did I fall in myself?
Or did I create that pit and stepped down myself?
I don't know, I am so confused. Should anyone deserves another chance to make things right? Should anyone gives anyone a chance to make things right?
Or am I just being naive thinking that things will change by giving someone another chance?
Maybe chances are given to those to asked?
And he did so, give him that chance?
Why does someone has to lose something to know that's the one thing you don't want to lose?
What does a man think a relationship is?
Questions..upon questions filled up my head..what is going on?
~deep pit of dilemma~
